Changing the suspension? He should get a spring that's correct for his weight. Other than that, I would take it to a tuning shop to have the suspension professionally set up...you don't wanna fcuk around with that and end up getting bucked off the bike when you hit a bump.

When you change around with the suspension stiffness, it DRAMATICALLY changes how the bike reacts. In cornering, acceleration, and under braking...it can become unstable very easily.
