So I'm doing some work for a friend on an odd Gateway pc... it's one of those Astro all-in-one jobs. Has a power cord, a modem port, and 4 USB ports. THAT"S IT! No PS/2 for keyboard and mouse, no serial, nothing.
So I need a PS/2 to USB converter. No biggie.... Best Buy might have em, nope... never did he says. Radio Shack, out of em. They are discontined there, however they do have 2 more at a store about 20 mins away. Ok... well Circuit City is only 2mins away... so I go there... I also needed a spare cd-rom drive... CC had the best price of the 3 places... so I was carrying that around... stopped one of the wandering workers... asked if they had a PS/2 to USB keyboard connector. "hmm I dunno, is that a cable?" Well it could be, might just be an adapter. "lets see" then walks over to some guy in the console game section who's stocking shelfs... "what was it again?" A PS/2 to USB keyboard converter.
So the first guy wanders off and I'm stuck with guy 2 now... "well I never heard of them." as he looks at the PS2 (Playstation 2)accessories. "It's for a computer keyboard or mouse on a pc" .... .... still looking at the memory, extra controllers, walks over to the XBox section.... "no sir, I don't think there is such a thing" ... "oh ok. Thanks." then I goto the check out, buy the cd-rom and leave.
What a doof. PS/2 to USB KEYBOARD CONVERTER!! only thing I can think of is that he thought I meant a USB keyboard that could be used on a PS2... doesn't the PS2 have USB ports on it??
Ohwell... I went to a local pc shop, where a friend from HS was working... told him what I needed, I got it. Paid. Thanked. Left.
Best Buy was honest and knew they didn't have em. Radio shack was just out. But that guy at circuit city.... :slap: :slap: :slap: :slap: :doh: :madfawk: :madfawk:
