Take it from someone who grew up here, the Marin County you want died fifteen years ago. 
It's a traffic-clogged, gentrified hellhole now.

As for me, give me a fixer-upper on a decently sized lot near Topanga Canyon, just outside LA.
That, and some quiet, respectful neighbors are all I need.

Having lived near there for nigh on five years, I doubt that quite a bit.
As for the heat... call me insane, but I miss it.
You do raise one good point though, the whole canyon is a tinder box, ready to burn.
Maybe Ventura, then.
