i sent my dad the Harry potter book and some other stuff, i and they sent me this email:

what excitement!!!! we got the package and the goodies!!! you're the
number
one sister now!! some sad news it sounds like uncle Fred (grandpa
goedtel's
brother) from Michigan will be passing away any day now he had prostrate
cancer 5 years ago and it was found in his lymph nodes a few months back
and
he went in with a brain bleed last week and now he's in a coma and the
family has signed off resuscitation rights. So any day now. Keep them
in
your prayers. he would turn 72 in July. well off to laundry my
favorite
chore--not. love amg

i just saw uncle fred in september. i feel horrible, he's such a greaat guy. i just feel weird writing back to this, my stepmom sounds like she doesn't really care. i told my mom and she's really upset too. my mom told me to call my dad but i don't really know how to talk to him about stuff like that.

I don't know if there is anything you can say? Just be there for him and remember that you will see him again.
