Tablet owners?
That would be a good pick-up if (when) someone finds a way to get Android to run on it.

Bump-a-dump.
Bought a Toshiba Thrive last night.
Already feels good to get off the Apple plantation.
Question: Since Google Calendar won't import from iCal at the moment, is there an Android solution that can read .ics from an SD card?

Sorry I can't answer your question, Dave, but I wanted to make a comment about the new Kindle Fire. 200 bones with built in ereader ( a good one, not an ipad screen with text). I'm sure it's much less potent than the toshiba, samsung, or apple, but it's something I may pick up..

edit: Dual core processor...8gb storage...email/file reader capable. This thing just became a contender imo.

No worries, just idle curiosity.
And agreed on the Fire; they're clearly taking dead aim at the Nook Color.

The Fire is going to be hard to compete with at it's price break and performance. Mind you the iPad kills it, but you could buy 4 Fire's for the price, and it will do 99% of what an iPad will do. This coupled with the fact that the Fire is an actually e-reader....boom goes the dynomite. I have been wanting to replace my original Kindle, and this will prob. do it.

The only thing I don't like about the fire, and I mean I'm really disappointed with, is that the battery life sucks. 8 hours...reading. This was a Kindle selling point before. My buddy's kindle goes a month with regular use. I'm very disappointed they couldn't bog things down in the background to keep the reader battery competitive. I mean, it's an e-reader at it's core.
Already preordered my Fire. I wanted a Nook Color awhile ago to hack into a tablet, but never got around to it. I probably would have preferred a 10" screen or even a slightly more powerful Galaxy Tab 7", but for half the price the Fire should do everything I want. It will be interesting to see how Prime works with the Fire. If I can get movies over Whispernet I may just have to get it so I can watch movies anywhere.
i messed around with a hacked Nook Color and already having a 2.2 on my Galaxy S, it wasnt that great. response times from touch and app loading was kinda annoying..
gonna check out the Fire in person and hoping for a some decent sales on Black Friday
There's been rumors of a 10" Kindle Fire, and that seems like it would be more up my alley than the 7" model. 7" isn't enough to get me to upgrade from the combo of my 6" Kindle 3 and my old 10" Asus netbook. I'd probably use it more for web browsing/media watching than for the reader aspect, as I like the look of the e-ink screen for reading.
