turn down teh brightness
man, my monitor was bright as hell in my room, I lower the brightness and contrast so that it wouldn't light up my room. My eyes are thankful

I like Good old fashion inexpensive CRT.
Decent CRT monitors have low radiation and easy on the eyes.
