Default how do you sell a car (private party)

method of payment, paperwork.. ?

in case you're wondering.. im gonna try to sell a mr2-spyder for a friend. or i might sell my civic and keep the mr2-spyder =x

just give him a bill of sale...and the pinkslip..he would then have to go to the dmv and take care of it..

i believe the buyer also have to deal with taxes...not u..
thats why i said cash..
some people would want u to lower the amount of the car on paper so they wont have to pay so much tax for the car...

u gotta make up a bill of sale (it can be with pen on white piece of paper just stating date and amount paid and signed by both of you) then the owner has to sign over the title... he [buyer] pays the owner and takes the title, bill of sale, and car home.. the buyer [new owner] takes the bill of sale and title to the DMV to pay sales tax and register it (get title put in his name)... *hint have the bill of sale say he bought it for 1000 or so so you dont get ripped on sales tax.. you could even have it say $1 lol... :thumbup:

when i bought my civic, the owner wrote the bill of sale on a napkin. just said that he sold the car to me for X amount of dollars

You don't need to take the bill of sale to the DMV, but you need to write one. All you need at the DMV is the pink slip.
