Why do we say:
Can you Xerox this for me when it really should be can you photocopy this for me.
Can you pass me a Kleenex when it should be can you pass me some tissues.
Are you running NOS when it should be are you running nitrous.

I learned this in business. Its when a name becomes a household name that it is applied to everything. For example, even if there is no Coke, you would still ask for a Coke. Another example would be, but not so much anymore, is I'm going to go play with my Nintendo, or buy me this Nintendo game.
