99 Si vs...
Okay, I'm buying a car this week. This is the car I'm looking at. 99 Black Si. Completely stock. 55k miles. I"m getting it for $12,500. What do you think?
I also looked at a '00 Civic EX coupe, but it was only a grand cheaper, so I thought I might as well shell out the extra g and get an Si, even if it is a year older.
However, I was walking around the lot where I'm buying the car from and saw an '02 Lancer OZ with 15k miles (too bad they're freakin slow) and a '99 Infiniti G20 for the same price. So, it got me thinking if there are any other cars I should be looking for in that price range, or if this is actually a decent price for a '99 Si. What do you guys think?
Here's the actual car:

That seems maybe a little high for a '99 SI. When I bought my '98 Civic EX I got it for $11,500.00 after taxes and licensing. That was only a little over a year ago. See if you can talk them down any and what is Blue Book say or the NADA?
hmm...I don't know what more info to give you.
One of the things I'm also concerned with is my insurance cost. So I don't want to go with something super sporty that will make my insurance skyrocket (I was looking at an Integra GSR and Eclipse GST as well). My insurance with this car is still very reasonable.
But, what else would I look for that is '99 or newer and under $13k? I also want something that has a lot of potential for improvement later on.

13K uhh.... mmm.. IMO i think the Lancer sounds the best.. yes i know its slow but, its got a LOT of potential. I personally wouldnt bother with the OZ edition, unless its a deal or something.
as in another thread, i like the SRT 4 (yea, its a little more $$) but im a mopar guy and thats just me
or you could get anything else a little cheaper, civics, tegs, whatever and build em up. it's your cash, so its up to you. does sound a little high though. :dunno:
my $.02

This is a used car lot, and I was just looking around and saw the 2 OZ Lancers he had. I wasn't really looking for them. The weird thing is, I can't even find any 99+ Civic EX's for around the same price around here. The only ones I find have like 80k miles on them. I don't want to go any older than 99 and don't want to go any higher than $13k. The only thing about the Lancer is when I test drove them at the Mitsubishi dealer, I really wasn't impressed by the engine or the interior. Are you saying it has a lot of potential?
Oh, I'm also very adamant about finding a completely stock car. There are a lot of idiots around here who beat their ricers up and I don't want to be stuck with a 3 year old car that's been beaten up, if you know what I mean.
