That's why I am debating it, because I have already gone through that, so in turn, this would be more expensive, but my payments will be about $100 cheaper.

That is why I lease, both car and truck!! Only pay for what I use.

i was told otherwise, old man, but before the loan officer told me that i always assume it was like 40% interest the first year, and signifigantly less every year after.

my payoff right now is probably $4800 at about 7.5%. my bank could give me prime rate of about 4.2% If i save over a hundred dollars on the remaining 30 periods i think it would be worthwhile...don't you?

$4800 at 7.5% over 30months = $5,279.00
$4800 at 4.2% over 30months = $5,064.80

Depends on how long the term was and the amount of the first loan, if it's really worth it. All you are doing is adding in the interest to the interest you have already paid, and you don't get a real picture of what the loan cost you.
