Default Parents buying their kids cars

If your parents offered to buy you a car (assuming you are still in school), would you accept?

Say your parents understand you are a responsible person, understand value of money and thus want to reward you, would you take it?

Let's not get into spoiled kids with parents buying them cars. I know some kids are taking things for granted, but there are also those that understand what is going on.

Thoughts?

take it. no matter what it is. Even if you yourself can afford better. It's a gift. even if you don't necessarily want it, it's free, and it moves. My car didn't cost me anything. It was absolutely perfect when I had no job and wasn't in school. Still is a pretty sweet deal even now. This time I'm gonna be buying my own car. but I still understand the value of my free car

Yes i'd take it. I inherited money to buy my car and I HATE the way people that don't know that bitch about my mommy or daddy buying me a car. No I didn't pay for my car, would I rather have my dad back than have my car? Of course! I just hate the way people assume things, I hope some people keep this in mind before they say something like that to people.

And not only that, if people's parents CAN afford to buy them a car, why the hell shouldn't they take it? I don't understand why people are punished for being succesful.

I always say I think kids should buy their own cars and thats what I did, but if someone ever offered me a car I would certainly take it, I mean who are we kidding here. Actually my Girlfriends Dad offered to buy me a new car ('91 Toyota Pickup) when my Hatch was in bad shape but I said no because I will never give up on my Honda.

free is always a good price, but it feels so much better when you do it yourself. i'm not from a loaded family so i was not forturnate to have a car given to me and i knew this, so i worked my ass off through highschool and senior year, went and signed the papers for my first brand new car, the feelings incredible when you can say i paid for it all of my own.

i'd take it. being offered a car, is different than you beggin mommy and daddy for a car. If they feel like you deserve a gift like that, you should feel good about that, and take it. And take good care of it, no matter what kinda car it is. As said above, free is a good price. and to show your appreciation, you should take care of it.

My dad passed his Civic down to me after his lease was up. He then got two new Accords. So I got the car for free I guess

my parents bought my first car, it was a 1988 chevy nova they found in the junkyard with no brakes. i took it. but when parents buy their kids anything faster than a civic it is irresponsible. there are no 16 year olds that can handle a car that fast.
