I bought some apt sized LG a while ago and those thing were shit. The dryer would take over 2 hour to dry even the smallest load. I returned them cause of how shitty they were. Been without a washer and dryer since!

house came with a ge washer and dryer. standard, top loading washer. both work great. i've never timed how long they take though.

my roommate uses the "auto dry" feature on the dryer with low heat, so i do know it takes him at least a couple hours for his clothes to dry :a:

I've always had older top-load W/D, the kind you could get on craigslist for $75. No issues. I think spending $1500 on fancy-pants new laundry machines is a waste

not according to popular consensus... they're rated some of the best.

We bought a pair of budget Samsung front-loader HEs, models WF210ANW and DV210AEW, last September when we moved into our new place. Cost about $1000 total installed. They work really well, are relatively quiet, and a full load takes around an hour in the washer and another hour in the dryer. Only complaint is that the Washer will take a walkabout on occasion and end up about 6 inches from it's starting position, but I think that I can mitigate that if I make some adjustments to the feet and maybe put it on a mat of some sort.

FYI, LG was Consumer Reports' most reliable brand for washers and dryers, and had several highly-rated models.
