Just had a quick thought, its not in production, but since the LCD screens are in such abundance these days, I wonder how long it will be until people relize they can be put in the mirror bays outside the car, with a little modding you can setup some of those cheap spy cams to act as a digital side mirror, plus it would be hella tight and super original. Here is how my idea would work: Just mod the side mirror bay to mount a screen, add some kind of watersheild and place a mini cam whereever you feel you would get the best view, here are the parts I had in mind:

so for about 99$ u got a screen....

and for about 40$ you got a camera
The cam would be a straight rca connection to the monitor, so just provide the screen with 12v with a slight wiring mod to the car adapter, and conceal the camera, and BOOM! u got a digital side mirror.

Ok, i know it might be a stupid idea, but im tired of my stupid ideas being pattented and sold after I come up with them, so just watch, it will be on the market soon now.

It's already out there, but not in mass production for cost reasons.

Captain Obvious says mirrors cost less than LCD screens and cameras.

 

hahaha, youre talking about a $1000 set of mirrors. maybe on a winebago, but i dont think on a civic anytime soon.

btw, who told you LCD screens were in overabundance? they are the most costly part of electronics development and thier production values are very stressed.
