if your boots are torn and leaking, it's better to replace them before the axles run out of lube and break.

i think the whole axel has to be changed anyways. they make really loud crinking noises going around corners. im pretty sure its not just a boot that needs to be replaced

if the damage is severe enough ... your wheel can come off.

um, yeah. If you catch it early enough, you can just repack the joint w/grease, put a new boot on it and call it a day. But if the joint completely breaks, your cars gonna look pretty damn tight w/the bodykit on it sitting in the driveway cause you won't be able to drive it.

Fix that shit man.

If your axle makes a creaking sound its already to late to fix it. Replace it with a new remanufactured axle. If you don't fix it up the spider gears inside will rust to the point where they won't bend and eventually your axle will snap in half if you don't fix it.

I just replaced the passenger side axle on my '98 civic. It's really not that hard to do. Although I had a lift and an airhammer at my disposal. Don't know if you have that.

I've done many an axle without air tools, still not hard.
