Default How long can a timing belt last???

My stupid Mom just told me she has 103,000 miles on her '00 Civic WITH THE ORIGINAL TIMING BELT! Sounds like a time bomb to me, they are only supposed to go to 60,000!

I used to hear 100k was normal, but I dunno. My mom got hers replaced at 90k and it was fine:dunno:

Good thing the car is so new because at least it won't leak oil and mess up the belt. She is getting a new Civic within the month, I just hope it lasts.

A timing belt will last exactly as long as your pistons aren't crunching your valves.

90,000 is cool, and how did she get that many miles in just 3 years?
