Default Who are your heroes?

See thread title.

Inspired by the Duracell firefighter commercial. Can be a public figure, historical figure, personal relative, friend... can be people who do a certain job, someone that made a personal impact in your life, etc.

..and why?

What impact have they had on your life and how did they influence your youth and what you've become today? Any certain characteristics or traits they've imparted on your day to day life?

Well, I definitely got my work ethic from my dad. They guy drives 75 minutes one way six days a week for work. Comes home, cooks, cleans, works on his laptop and goes to bed at 9 to get up at 4. In my life, I've never heard him complain once. It's just what he's had to do to give us the quality of life we've had.

My mom has shown me the utter definition of courage and strength the past couple of years. You never know the complete make up of someone until their back is up against the wall.

My bio professor, Dr. Pendarvis, lost both of his sons in a two year stretch (One 22, one 19 y/o) due to cystic fibrosis. He's dedicated his education and research to CF awareness and prevention. Really down to earth guy, and one of the most caring person I've ever met.
