I'll give him a solid B. Reason is, he inherited majority of crap from Bush era and he is trying to do best with what he has.

I'm seen as biased against him, but it needs to be said.

You honestly think he is doing his absolute best, and putting for this best effort and energy towards this country?

*for the most part I'm glad but you have to grade based on what's been done vs promised.
I don't think a president's ability to live up to campaign promises should be a grading criterion. All campaign promises are 100% bullshit since the president has zero power to enact legislation. The president has only the power of suggestion when it comes to national policy. You can't give an executive order to revamp healthcare or reform immigration policy. Same applies to any president.

B-. He did a lot of stuff I like in the beginning, but it seems like he's lost a lot of political capital and has had to bend & break too much on his promises over the last year. He hasn't done enough to steer the national political dialogue, and is therefore essentially letting the far-right wing dictate the issues.

I think that Obama's biggest problem is that in reality he is very pragmatic. Contrary to some of the vitriol out there, he's really a barely-left-of-center politician and prefers to compromise on issues in order to get things done rather than stick to unrealistic ideals. Unfortunately, the political atmosphere of the US really seems to be dictated by the extremes and Obama just isn't "extreme" enough to resonate with his base and dominate the dialogue and thus seems to be coming off as weak recently.
