Put in notice, you don't want to burn bridges. Usually, if company is hiring you for double the money, the long term outcome is not always very good in technical field. Many engineers I know who were making deep 6 figers were the first to go when company decided to downsize. my2cents

I'd only give notice if you had the new job offer in hand. Until you've actually been technically offered the job, shit can change. And I wouldn't want to quit the current gig before I had the new one set in stone. But I'd definitely try to put in your 2 weeks prior to the Vegas trip if possible.

While I like the idea not to burn bridges, you need to look out for yourself. Wait until you have accepted the job offer. What if, yeah they are going to offer you the job, but you find something you don't like, or the salary isn't as high as they said, or whatever. Look out for yourself. if your current job had to lay you off or fire you, they wouldn't wait until after you took the trip, so why should you do something good for them?

If you take offer, put in notice before. its like 2 days before vegas, what does it matter? the convention is probably already paid for. to cancel hotels and flights that close to a deadline usually costs cancellation fees right?

[QUOTE=yellowbastard;4745153]Say you've been with a company for almost 11 years and you decide to look elsewhere as its gone completely to shit. You find another company that wants to hire you for double your salary...literally. You are not hired yet but you're being asked to come back in for a final interview to which you've received word that they will be offering the role. All this with just 2 days before you're scheduled to fly out to Vegas for a week with current shit company for a week long microsoft technical event..all expenses paid.

This "accept the offer with the other company but continue on with the Vegas trip so you can eat up the free strippers, experience, food, travel then put your notice in the week you return".
Most likely they won't give it shit about you. It's all about the money and if they care about then you should get a better offer from your current company so that you don't leave.
