Default Do you consider yourself successful?

I am certain that I am not a loser, but I dont think I can say that I am successful. There is much more that I feel I can accomplish. But I can say that at least I am doing something about it.

Anyways, just to share a story.

So in high school, I knew my share of drug dealers. This one guy seemed like a pretty big one, just judging from the money, clothes, jewelry he had. He even gave me $5 for copying my hw once. Anyways. I saw him the other day at the Philly Cheesesteak Shop. We started talking and he was asking what I was doing, I told him I was working at XX school doing whatever. I asked what he was doing. I glanced at his wrist and was blinded by his watch and rings. He told me he was in real estate and owned a couple bars. I just kinda laughed while pointing at his hand and told him he always did well for himself. He knew what I was talking about and laughed.

Wish I was a baller. :wtc:

At the same time, Facebook and the like have given me an opportunity to see where some of my classmates are at in their lives. A lot of them are doing pretty well for themselves, have families and shit like that. Every once in a while I would see an old classmate working retail trying to finish school, others I still see on the streets looking like they did 10 years ago slanging and bsing on the street.

I'm not rich (not by a long shot)...but I'm supporting myself and am not living paycheck to paycheck. I have a meaningful job and feel good about what I do...so in saying that, I feel like I'm succesful. Do I wish I had more to show? Sure. But I'm happy where I'm at. I just wish I had somebody special to share it with

All of this.
I feel I'm working towards where I want to be. This winter was a bit rough. Went through a big chunk of my savings, but was still able to get by until I was able to find another job. The economy is hitting my profession hard at the moment.. so it's certainly effected certain things financially. But I don't struggle week to week and I keep the furkids well fed and my bills paid. I don't really worry about comparing myself to others in my age group.. or former classmates or anything.. I just do what I do and hope I get by okay.

Great question. Successful is a relative term. i definitely dont have a lot to show for myself but have a comfortable savings. I have no debt in life and put myself through school and feel like I (in real terms) can do whatever I want whenever I want and to me, that feels great.

Thats good.

I guess there are other things that people can define as success...physical / mental health, relationship, life fulfillment... I guess in those areas, I am fairly happy and content with.

Damn good way to put it.

I am more successful now than I thought I would be at this point in my life, five years ago. So that's a win. But there is ALWAYS room to be better.
