i can surf. not very good though. ummm...i snow board quite a bit which helped a little, but it was still hard to learn. and you have to be a very good swimmer, and should be able to hold your breath for a while. surf and undertow are a bitch.

The only thing that really scares me to shit is that undertow. I guess I'll be doing more swimming this summer so I can get better at it and loose that fear of swimming in the ocean cuz it kind of scares me.

Dont worry about an undertow, unles your a piss poor swimmer. Just swim parralel for a little then go back in, Oh, wait, thats a rip. Iused to surf all the time back in the day. It comes with the territory of living in a beach community. Evan had the full weatsuit, hoodie, booties and gloves to go surfing in february. I havent really surfed though in a couple of years. Stopped after I went to college, and got a job. But I may take it back up this summer.

I maily bodyboard but surfed a few times. It easier to learn on a long board first to build up your balance. After a straight week of surfing a longboard I tried out a 6'2ft board and ate shiet for the first hour. It fun though, just gotta build balance and confidence. Carving is hard to learn but once you get it its all gravy from there. Just gotta watch out for the big hawaiian local, hell run you over.

I've been considering surfing for a while now. I just need to buy a board, or even rent one. I can swim very well, since I've never lived over about 10 miles from any beach. I surfed before. not too terribly difficult once you get the hang of it. Like anything, all it takes is practice.
