Default lcd hdtv thread v.imightbuythis

so i have an old 27" crt samsung in the bedroom and it has some lines on the sides and is pretty old.

here's a 40" toshiba, 1080p, 60hz on newegg for $400.

60hz kind of bothers me, but it's only in the bedroom and i won't really be doing much video gaming / movie watching in there.

I put a 32" in my beadroom and it feels freakin huge so 40" might be too big.

I have an older Syntax Olevia 37", 720p, 60hz in my bedroom. I don't think you'll have any problem with the 60hz with your planned usage -- I've watched a lot of sports on this TV and have never noticed any of the problems people associate with the TV being "only" 60hz.

The venerable trinitron quit after 20 years. Got it used, four hundred 1993 dollars. Six speaker surround sound that was surprisingly good. A very heavy mofo, I can tell you.

More than the 32" Phillips LCD I got would have been too big for the thing I was putting it on, would stick out both sides, cost three bills.
