Got my first ticket tonight, I'm pissed as hell....anyways, is there anything I can do?

I was going about 40 in a 35 in a town when I noticed a car approaching me...he hit the brakes about 1/2 a car length behind me and kept steady at that pace. I hit my break lightly a few times to try to get him off my back but he wouldn't move, so I sped up to try to get away from him(going in to the other lane wasnt an option since there were two other cars there), and then woops, it was a cop and there are the lights.

I'm definitely taking it to court, he said it was 54 in a 35...no way it was over 50 but oh well. I'm going to say it was entrapment since he was tailgating me and wouldn't stop even after I used my break. Anyways, ya, I'm pissed...so anyone know of any of the vehicle entrapment laws in NY if there are any?

 

hmm, you could get a lawyer, plead not guilty and hope the cop had his camera on when he was behind you... your lawyer could get the tape and use it in court to show he was tailgating you... But, you admit that you were speeding, what you could have done instead is take a side street to get him off of you.

 

Ya but I would have had to get in the right lane to do that which I couldn't since there were two cars there...and there were no sidestreets until the intersection up further(I got pulled over before that).

 

I don't know what you can do without that video...it's your word against his.

 

or your word twisted by an eloquent lawyer against his.

 

well were you guilty of speeding?

 

it's not entrapment. even if he was tailgating, that doesn't give you the right to speed. if anything, you should have just stayed going the speed limit and made him pass you.

 

stop complaining and live up to your mistake, the cop was just doing his job. people like you piss me off.
