screw you ATi!
So yeah, I bought an ATi Radeon 9600 Pro video card, and it's a pile of crap. Everytime I try to start up a game, it freezes my computer. Sometimes, it just randomly defaults my display setting to the lowest possible, and says that Windows recovered from a serious device error, and that it's caused by device drivers. Also, whenever I connect my LCD using the DVI cable, my computer won't even perform a POST (although that might be a BIOS problem :dunno: )
the worst part is that ATi customer service sucks! There support number is a 900 number and they charge you ~$2.50 a minute. and they make it difficult to find out how to send them an e-mail, and when you do, they send you a response that seems automated and pretty general. :madfawk:

I've heard about some problems with ATI radeon with 128mb or more of memory.
such as you described, no POST, etc. Is there anything built into the card that you can disable? I know their older 8xxx series had a problem with the 1394 controller. When you disabled that the system boots fine.
