Computer people...
I got some computer components today to build a basic computer. I put everything together (mobo, processor, fan, hdd, cdrw, dvd, video card).
I built my friend one just like this but w/ a different mobo.
My problem is that it will not start. I plugged it in and had the keyboard, mouse and monitor plugged in. It turned on momentarily (maybe 15 seconds) and said something about CMOS and low battery... i could not really catch it as i was making sure all of the components in the computer were turning on.
What may be the problem? I am stumped the computer will not start anymore at all.

umm your CMOS battery is low :chuckles:
use the pause/break key in the upper right corner of the keyboard to pause and read the whole message.
my guess is that you have to set the options on the CMOS to defaults and/or set the processor speed.
you're not getting any beep codes right?
also it wouldn't hurt to get a new battery for the MB
CMOS = BIOS in case you didn't know.

question #2 any beep codes. is the mb throwing out any beeps when booting?
#3 can you get into the BIOS at all?
When you press the power button it does nothing... the first time i tried to turn it on i caught a glimpse on the screen saying cmos and low batt... then the system shut down. now the power button is unresponsive and when pressed the fan does not even spin.
if the power button doesn't work, make sure that it's connected. and make sure the power supply is fully plugged into the mb. and you had the fan on the processor and hooked up, right? one time i forgot to hook it up and it fried the processor and nothing would work after that (for good reason).
