Default Home Remodel Krew v. flooring

we're planning on tearing out our carpet and putting in hardwood throughout (other than the bedrooms). we're also planning on doing a new tile floor in the kitchen (right now it's just a concrete slab). do you guys think having the same wood all the way throughout (kitchen, living room, and hallway) is a bad idea? i feel like it'd be way easier, but i'm not sure how it would be with everything the same. any ideas?

I like having tiles in the kitchen/bathrooms. That's how it's done in my house. White textured tiles in the kitchen and bathrooms, wood floor everywhere else.

I'm with that guy. I actually have tiles in the foyer, wood laminate (cause I'm poor) in the living room/dining room/family room (+ area rugs) and tiles in the bathroom.

Wood in the kitchen is inviting warping

Neg, you just can't let water sit on it for a day.

I would rather have all the same hardwood, tile in bathrooms

This isn't necessarily true anymore.

You can easily find hardwood that has been finished and treated for bathroom and kitchen locations. When we priced out floor on my parents house (which we are finishing now) it wasn't even that more expensive, and holds the same warranty/refinishing option etc.

I've got stone tile in the kitchen/bathrooms and hardwood in the living room (bedroom is still carpet - that will be next to convert to hardwood). My parents have tile in the bathrooms and hardwood everywhere else, including the kitchen. A properly finished hardwood floor should be fine in the kitchen. I still prefer tile in the bathrooms though.
