yes, people do it all the time, and what usually happens is the thread gets locked or moved. since there was a ton of flaming, it got locked, and understandably so. usually no one cries about it though.

The show is not going to be cancelled, just moved and reformatted. I've been talking to the heads of Carlisle.
Apparently there was an emergency town hall meeting Monday night about this. It was all over the news about 300 arrests, 200 citations, public drunkeness, nudity, etc...
And from my view point it wasn't only ricers ruining everything, I saw plenty of nice cars doing stupid things. Actually one guy in a Civic doing a burn-out up the hill almost ran into me. I almost got out of the car and killed him. And I was only volunteering my time to help at the mini-road course.

I've been to every Carlisle Custom Compact show since 1996 except for 2000 when I wasn't into car shows anymore
