Default digital audio people

there is a song on a cd i have, that i would like to rip to my computer. when i do so, upon playing the song it has like crackles in it... what can i do to remedy this?
i'm using Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.

if it's a regular cd, it might be one of those protected cd's. in that case, you might be able to take it back.
