Default Extreme geek question... proceed with caution

Planning to modify the moon roof on my new car. Its an electric moon roof, so that makes my job easier. What I want to do is put a thermo sensor on there and interface it with a PIC micro controller so the moon roof opens at a certain temperature.

So far I've found a LM75 Temperature Sensor from National that might work. Any Computer Engineers or Electrical Engineers here that know any better ones.

Yeah I know I am a super geek, but hey I gotta use this brain at some point.

Actually the other thing I am gonna do is incorporate an ignition keypad. Like they had in The Transporter, trying to clean up the bugs in my code. (Yes I actually have the code written for it.) It just has a hokey timing problem, or I might just need to get a more sensitive keypad.

Its called talent and using my intelligence. Most people have rides that look too drab and dull, I want to use what I am learning in school and incorporate it into my car. I can do what I am planning to do for less than 100 bucks and yet it will have a unique quality to it.

If things go well I should be starting my project towards the end of this month. I already have samples from Microchip for my PICs, the only problem is I am short on funds to build the pc that will program the PIC... I might just keep my old pc and use that.

A PIC works only when it has power. So the moon roof will only open when the car has been started.

If its warm and raining I can over ride it, I could go extreme and detect humidity or moisture but I am not too sure what the relationship between moisture and rain is. Not too good at that geography stuff.
