I think the remote is worth it if you are going to be using it a lot for media stuff but it's not a requirement.

I have the remote and I find it's use quite enjoyable as it's bluetooth just like the controller, it will work even with my PS3 out of sight

i guess i just like having random colors. i have red, white and black for my xbox.

i haven't tried the remote, i don't have a problem just using a control to watch a blu-ray. i might try to get a nice logitech remote for christmas. going to have to research if it works with everything i have first though.

 

I just never saw the need for it since I could just use the controller. But if that way annoys you.. it may be worth it for you to get the remote.

 

You can charge the controller via any USB connection. I usually charge on my laptop if it's running too low.

Also, the PS3 remote for $20 is worth it.
