Monday thread
Yesterday was probably one of the raddest days of my life. The Isle Surf Crew took all 17 Stand Up Paddleboards out through La Jolla Cove and (3) things happened that I will never forget.
1) The surf was BOMB BIGGIDY. We were at a secret spot that you cannot get to on foot. It was a shallow reef break breaking both ways. We spent a solid hour with 17 of us on "party waves" where EVERYONE is on and blasting through. Funny thing, when I met at our friends house on the water, I was instructed we were wearing pirates head gear so imagine all of us with headbands and eye patches. HAHAHA!
2) I literally thought I was going to die. There is a particular cave that is kinda sketchy. Its entrance is really thin but the water level gets crazy inside so falling isnt an option. Wellllllll, I finally manned up and followed my cousin and 3 people followed me. It was too many people in there so no room to move - not to mention the 11ft boards everyone was on. The next thing you know, this ROGUE ass wave comes ripping through and I swear to God, tossed us around like a ferocious washing machine. It was panic dude. All 5 were thrown against each other, the walls of the cave, and the boards were tossed around like rag dolls. We had to dive in order to not get harpooned by the paddles, boards, and skegs. This went on for like 3-4 minutes and you could hear people yelling from the outside to "HOLD ON - ANOTHER ONE IS COMING." Fuuuuck man, that was some shit.
3) Sharks. Lots of them. We realized Leopard sharks were out and about and those things were cool as shit. In fact, one swam between my legs and grazed me. Weird, weird, feeling. But we also SAW this Thresher shark at the break we were initially surfing. At that point, you knew damn right the hazard of falling so everyone was aware that if you couldnt handle the wave, back off. It got your heart pumping for sure. Ewwww weeee.
Lets just say today is going to kick ass coming off a Sunday like that!
