NYS license plate laws?

I want to take my front license plate off...anyone know if your front license plate is required in New York? I didn't think it was...just need verification.

I think so. I don't see people without front license plates here. Go to the DMV and ask; seeing they're such nice and inviting people!

It's illegal in NYS. I got pulled over for not having my plate on, and i got a verbal warning (told the cop it was ripped off at the highschool).

as a cop in NYS, I can attest that it is illegal to not have a front plate, as per Section 402.1 of the NYS Vehicle & Traffic Law
