No what you should do is get the ORIGINAL HALF-LIFE.
Then you can get any mod you want, including Counter-Strike, which is a free add-on for Half-Life.
I don't think you can add on games to the Retail version of Counter-Strike.
That way you have 2 games.

just got half-life the original tonight(as i lost my old one) and i got CS full update and the patch for half life all downloaded and ready to go, its been a while since i played, but i hope i see some of you fawkers in game so i can show you what us HPB's are made of
