i read on twitter from a friend if you have a ethernet cord hooked up to the ps3 unhook it and speeds should get better

For GT5 just have it on manual transmission and hold down the clutch for your launch.

oh there was a bug in gt5p that would just let you shift without the clutch when using g27. u're supposed to push a button or something during the "start" portion of the race to activate the use of the clutch

that wasn't a bug in gt5p, the clutch pedal was enabled just the way you described
