Default The reality of being a foreign student

No matter how good you do you will always get passed up for a scholarship. Its starting to piss me off to no end, I've worked hard and actually took the 3.5 year degree plan instead of the 5 year plan most kids go with.

I remember this one girl that got an award for "Academic prowess in math and science" and I remember helping her pass the differential equations class. I was like :wtf: how does a person like that get recognized.

Yeah I am b*tching, specially when you read about the $45000 scholarship some people are gonna get when you know they don't deserve it.

And then there are people that $45,000 would feed their whole community for years and years. Hum. When you think it's bad, there's always worse out there. I've noticed this.

Yep I have that mentality, it could be worse... um let me rethink that... I already have a $20,000 loan. In 6 months I might end up getting kicked out of the country with no where to go.

Aah ain't life just f*cking grand.

I graduate in December, if I don't find a job or get in grad school then I will be forced to leave the country. Its just the greatest feeling not knowing whether the last 3.5 years of hard work is going to go to waste.

Did you get any letters yet?

um, its a hell of a lot harder for those of us that are middle class and white and male...so i mean, its sort of like that "grass is always greener" saying. i worked very hard and can barely even get a LOAN much less a grant or scholarship.

It's much easier for a minority to get into a college.
