Airbag module reset?
If I buy an airbag module that has come from a car where the bags were both deflated, will the module still work? Does it need to be reset?
I'm buying it for $40, I think thats a good deal:dunno:

No, the module is not capable of being "reset". Airbags use a small pyrotechnic charge similar to a "squib" (used in the film industry to simulate gunshot wounds) to ignite a solid compound that rapidly burns, filling the airbag with the efflux from this extremely rapid combustion.
In terms of black letter law, I don't know whether or not the car can be re-registered or whether it must be sold on a "salvage" title, due to the non-functioning airbags.
What I do know is that to replace the airbag system will be quite expensive. At least a thousand dollars, if not more.
In short, caveat emptor.

And no, I'm not talking about the AIRBAGS themselves (the things that go BOOM and shoot at your face), I'm talking about the separate COMPUTER module. There are 3 parts to the honda airbag systems, the 2 bags (with the explosive charges) and the computer. I want to know if I buy a computer from a system where the bags were deflated, will the computer still work on my unexploded airbags...

Goddamn yO, was I dumb or what?
Uhhh... brainfart!!!!
You were kinda vague, though.
The term "airbag module" could have meant many things (to a complete dork like me)...
The computer module should be fine. I know of no EEPROM "switch" that needs resetting, but I'd check the factory shop manual to be sure....
And caveat emptor is latin for "buyer beware".....
BTW, I'm going to go drink ( only a pint or twenty) and forget this ever happened.... please don't bring it up again.
