How to put up Sheetrock

the room is like 11.6 by 11 and 8 feet high. and we're not going to do the ceiling. i think that we're planning on doing it horizontally so that way we could just stack one on top of the other and just have to cut the end (on the sides with no windows)
my friend is spending over $500 on just my room
new windows, doors, insulation (there was NONE before), paint, window moldings and borders for the ceiling.

put the good edge agains thte ceiling. cut the edge that hits the floor!!!

OK OK OK

we insulated the whole room tonight and he got the doors today. we also routed some new electrical plugs. sheetrock comes this weekend sometime.

did you put up vapor barrier? if he doesnt own the home it needs to be inspected before you continue. also you need to put metal plates over any places in a stud where a wire passes through. that is code now.

nope none of that. yeah his parents own it and they're giving it to him to live in for many many years so....
metal plates huh? too late now.

if the studs are exposed it isnt too late. and since its a kitchen i think vapor barrier is required.

the metal plates are pounded on to the 2x4's to keep you from accidentally drilling into a wire, and the vapor barrier is plastic stapled over the top of the 2x

well they put up the sheetrock while i was at work yesterday. i came over and puttied all of the nails. then we woke up this morning and did it again.

make sure you tape all the light switches and electrical outlets, and all the lines.
