Default Building a computer...

I currently have a Gateway Athlon 800 (cartridge style) P.C. I have upgraded bits and pieces of it over the past few years butt hink it is finally time for a new one. Pieces that I may use (but could be swapped out) are the Geforce 2 GTS 32 mb DDR Video Card, 30 gig HD (from Gateway) 20 gig IBM Deskstar (both HD's are 7200 RPM), Intelimouse Explorer, Logitec wireless keyboard, 19" monitor.

So far this is what I purchased:
ECS K7S5a Pro Motherboard - Newegg - $56

AMD Athlon 2000+ Retail - Newegg - $78

This Case - dealsonic - $39

All the prices were shipped. So far I have spent $173 which is not too bad. I currently have 512 megs of PC100 SDRAM to use for the time being until I can purchase some DDRAM. Also, I am debating on whether or not to get a new HD. My aunt gave me a Best Buy gift card for my birthday so I may use that to either buy RAM or a Maxtor Ultra 120 gig HD.

I thnk that is enough to get me started. I am not a hardcore gamer or an overclocker. I just want it for internet, photo editing and occasional gaming. Please give me any suggestions that you can. Thanks a lot

you won't need anymore ram....(you can buy 512 more for very cheap(pc100/133) that'll be great) that HDD sounds nice, all you need is a sound card like $20 and a 64 mb videocard (good enuf for gaming) for like 50-70
and watever cd drives you want

Oh wow, I forgot to mention I have my 8x DVD drive and my 32x CDRW which is more than enough. If the onboard sound blows I an take the SB Live! Value from the other computer. Thanks for the help.

Sounds good... my only comment is about the mouse. I used to have an Intelipoint Explorer. I now use Logitech MX700 Cordless Optical Mouse. It's the best mouse I've ever used. It blows the Intelipoint out of the water,

Access Micro has a AMD Athlon XP 2100+ processor, Asus A7S333 mobo along with a Thermalite heatsink and a Vulcan fan, 128 MB of DDR 2100 RAM for $216 shipped.

Newegg has a Radeon Atlantis 9000 128 MB DDR video card for $86.

Dealsonic has a really good mid tower ATX case with power supply for $40.

You are spending around $320 and getting a lot more for the buck.
