Better Luck Tomorrow
agreed, very true.
thing is...and i said this in the other thread.....these movies play on the stereotype too much....now, i understand that being asian and growing up in california is a whole different story from AAs that grow up anywhere east of that, but the direction of the whole movmement toward AA cultural identity needs to step back and take a look at itself and maybe try not to be Asian for the sake of being Asian.
this is way more involved than i would like to get into, especially on a car board. maybe ill try posting this on asian avenue or something.

the whole rich, spoiled asian kid deal is a joke.
the whole....im so spoiled and i have everything, so i need to **** my life up deal is starting to sicken me....
yes, it is a reality, and a sad one for some kids, and compared to the model minority stereotyps that we have, it;s not as bad as that of other races, but i would rather see the plight of Asian_americans be furthered with something more positive to begin with.
we are probably the last ethnic group to create our identity in this country.....i dont want to see it ****ed up to begin with....not that this movie necesarrily does that, but it isnt on the other side of the spectrum either.

umm..its pop culture.
think about it....yoo have to admit that rap and "black" movies create the stereotype of what we think of that race.....the same hold true with AAs
its not about the movie...its about the direction that the expression is taking.

its not too late at all....
outside of california, there really are no strongholds of asian pop culture.
californians, like texans think that they are the center of the universe

but yea, since i am a pac islander, i know that technically im not considered asian

like i said, it isnt specifically about the movie.
i am saying that i hope that most of the asian american pop culture influencers, such as this one will, in the future, sway away from using the whole positive or negative stereotype to define the aisan american lifestyle.

this movie is too small overall to make an effect. you're letting it get to you before the ball has even started rolling (if it ever will).

i think it's lame to have either an all asian theme or nothing. it's either movies like this (or even 'the debut' to an extent) or the typical triad or kung fu movie. why can't they just cast asians into normal flicks, without making them token characters?
