Today I got my smallpox vaccination and must adhere to strict guidelines for the next week while awaiting a reaction. I have a very strong immune system so I'm thinking I won't get the reaction the brochure says I will.
"Final Out" is tomorrow morning when I out-process my base then, technically, I'm in-transit until I arrive in Afghanistan next week. Yay!

Cancels out my ass. If a bike is going to use the public roadway, the rider has to follow the same laws as the cars. I've seen cops hand out reckless endangerment tickets for shit like that. Also, the pedestrian can't be held responsible for not looking the wrong way on a one way street. I woulda beat that punk with his own bike.
and didn't you ever get taught "look both ways?"

Sure, the guy is guilty of jaywalking. But a bicycle falls under the same rules as any vehicle using the roadway. You can get a speeding ticket on a bike (I've heard of this happening in my town), a DUI on a bike, or reckless driving on a bike. How would you react to a car driving the wrong way up a one-way street? It's the same thing under the law (at least here).

got me there
i had this old guy friend who i worked with at the golf course a long time ago.
he was pulling out of his neighborhood to make a right, so only looking at the traffic he had to turn into. started to go and "hit" a guy running the other direction on the side of the road.
next day a cop is there and pulls him over at the same spot.
cop says he hit a judge who was running.
nothing ever happened because the cop was running against traffic, which is apparently the wrong way in nys.

I've been in court (I go to court a lot h: ) when the judge was nagging a biker about not coming to a complete stop. The judge said he rides his bike to the court house every morning and stops at 20 stop signs, signals all his turns, etc. The guy was like :eh: so the judge gave him a $125 ticket.
