i been thinking about rooting my incredible but i dont know anyone that has one and i am not to comfortable doing it myself

I went over to my buddies place and it was really easy. We both used Unrevoked, it was literally a one click process. just google unrevoked and root incredible and there is an easy walk thru for it. the first thing you do once you are rooted is make a backup file. if you ever do something by accident you can restart in restore mode and you'll be fine. I haven't messed around with any new roms yet but once the cytogen rom for froyo is done and polished I'm going to get that.
