Default Why do women have to be so difficult?

Some of you may remember that my girl wrecked her car a couple weeks ago. Still no official word on whether or not it's totalled, but i've seen cars totaled for much less. The tow yard is bugging her to pay for the tow and the storage fees and she wants to pay them so she can get the car and part it out. However, once the ins adjuster takes a look at it and realizes it's totalled, the car will no longer belong to her and if she wants it, she's gonna have to buy it back. Also, she has to get the ok from the insurance to take the car from the tow yard, which of course the ins won't do at this point for obvious reasons. But she is hell bent on paying the tow yard cause she thinks if she does, she can part it out and all will be fine. She's not understanding that once the car gets totalled, it no longer belongs to her unless she buys it back. She's got a 98 Accord LX, the current bill for the tow yard is up over $400, add that to the cost of buying the car back, my guestimate is at least $1000 and there is $1400 it cost for her to get the car back. I can't imagine being able to part out the car and get that money back so why even bother?

1. Why did she have it towed there?
2. Considering that the tow place wants her to pay, she can't touch the car w/o paying for it.
3. If she pays for it... she needs to see if the insurance company will reimburse her.

woman are difficult because they know its makes us squirm

i say let her do it, most likely the issurance company will reimburse for the tow and i don't think she should try and part it out (unless there are mods under that hood or stereo that survived)

1.) :dunno: she had just been in a potentially life ending accident on an overpass, she hit the guardrail next to the slow lane, she was very shaken and scared, im sure she wasn't thinking too clearly.
2.) Correct, but like I said, why pay to get it out when it's gonna be totalled?
3.) She has already talked to the ins about that, they maintain that any storage fees will be her responsibility due to the fact that it was her decision to have it towed to the tow yard.

She is so worried about the tow yard suing her for the tow and storage fees. Im telling her the car is totalled so don't even trip. I see this playing out one of two ways. Ins totals it, pay the fees to get it from the tow yard, and bills the fees to the finance company who will pass the bill on to her by adding it to the balance she owes. Or, the ins totals it, tow yard buys it, sells it to get their money and then some. Either way, she aint parting it out.

Why would I let her do it when our money is together and the car is all stock anyway? We aren't in a position to give money away, and that's exactly what we'd be doing if she were to pay the tow yard right now, even if she did pay them right this mintue, she couldn't get the car from there w/o permission from the ins company and they aren't gonna ok her taking the car until the asess the the damage and make a call on it.
