Explain this to me: How does being last year's world series champs in any way affect this season? (aside from the mental aspect)

Umm it means that at this time they are the best team in baseball. Not only that but its bragging rights. Its too early to really say whats going to happen.

:werd: It doesnt matter that a team won the year before. Back in 97 after the Marlins won the world title they dumped everyone. Did that make them the best team in 98?
