yep 4 100GB striped to be 384GB and 4 36GB SCSI drives in RAID5 for ~100GB. Plus 2 15k rpm SCSI drives in RAID1 18GB each for the OS.

but whos counting :chuckles:

the biggest hdd that is sold is 200GB I believe, maxtor makes one and western digital makes one.

I'm waiting for SATA drives to come up. Then I'll upgrade to 4x 3 or 400GB

It's Maxtor that makes the 250GB HD.

I was just reading an article on HD speeds in MaximumPC...they say that the HD never actually reaches the transfer speeds the connections are rated at (i.e. ATA100/133) because they're limited by their internals.
They tested two Maxtor 200GB HDs, one ATA/100 and one ATA/133 and got average transfer speeds of about 45MB/s. they also tested 2 120 GB Seagate drives, one SATA and one ATA, and got average speeds around 37MB/s for both.
