Default Donnie Darko

ok, before everyone starts yelling repost, calm down for a minute. I know there have been threads about this movie before, mainly just telling people to see it, blah blah. I've watched it twice now and I still don't know WTF is going on.

So if anybody could explain IN GREAT detail, exactly WTF happens in this movie, that would be awsome. I guess here is as good as anyplace for a spoiler warning, if you haven't seen the movie, you prolly should not read the replies to this (assuming I get any) PLEASE make sense of this for me.

I see it as a sort of when everything goes wrong, versus a when everything goes right... sort of, world. Like in the regular world, Swayze's character would have gone on without being caught by cops, the bunny wouldn't have gotten shot for running over the girl because the girl wouldn't have been there. In the world where Donnie lives on, everything turns chaotic, whereas when he dies there's peace. so to speak. Maybe Donnie is Chaos personified?

I just don't really get how the jet engine went back in time and stuff. Unless, like you say.....if it's showing 2 possible strings of events then that's ok, but if this is just 1 string then I don't understand the order of what happened.

Default *spoilers*

Jus got done with it and i'm thinking its all in one world then at the, when the airplane is caught in the tornado, the engine is thrown back in time...into another dimension

All dimensions are exactly the same to this moment....in the dimension this movie is set, where Frank has warned hime, his world(this dimension) has ended cuz his his girl's gone, he's alone, and he's killed someone...Donnie isnt dead at the end but his life will be over

man...this is my take, but i need to watch it again 1st time
great movie

that was my take.
he got a chance to see what would happen if he lived on that day, and while he became a "hero", the girl he loved also died...so he decided that it was better that he die that day instead....hence the smile on his face.
I really like that movie.
