John Delorean went to prison for Drug trafficking. Sad thing is I went to school w/ his son Zack and I remember he got pulled out of school cuz of the scandal.

 

Jon Delorean, the eponymous designer of the Delorean or DMC-12, was arrested for allegedly trying to arrange a cocaine deal in order to help finance Delorean Motor Cars.

He was acquitted on all charges in 1986.

That said, the scandal did the company no favors. After the subsidies that brought production to Northern Ireland ran out, the company was in dire need of private financing. With the trial looming in late 1982, no one wanted to be associated with Delorean or his operation.
