Somehow my iTunes library has duplicates of a lot of my albums...I must have accidentally added my music folder twice to update the list. If I delete the songs from the library, will they also delete from my hard drive? I'm not deleting from a playlist, but from the main library. I couldn't find any info on this on the Apple site. I want to clean up my library and get all the album artwork in there, because most of the stuff I've uploaded to my phone doesn't show the artwork.

It should ask you two questions when deleting something from the library. 1st: Are you sure you want to remove the selected song from your iTunes library. 2nd: Do you want to move the selected song to the Recycle Bin, or keep it in the iTunes music folder?

 

I don't have any music in the iTunes folder...it's just from my main folder of music.

 

Oh, I'm not completely sure since I consolidate all of my music to the itunes folder. I think it would probably just remove it from your itunes library, then you would have to manually remove from your main folder.

 

Cool, I got it figured out. It only moves songs to the recycle bin that are in the iTunes music folder....so songs that are stored elsewhere are fine. Thanks for the help.

Readding my music folder now....then it's time to get album art. Can I select the whole library and get album art for everything at once?

 

Glad you got it figured out. For artwork, go to advanced. Select "Get Album Artwork". I don't think you need to select anything.

 

When you add the files to the library, it automatically searches for the artwork. Unfortunately most of the file names in my collection are not the exact titles that iTunes searches the internet for. If I want artwork, I'll have to manually add it....way too much work.

I hate their artwork algorithm. I used to be pretty set on all songs/albums/artists being exactly correct but I got sick of repairing literally hundreds at a sitting so I said fuck it who needs artwork anyways.
