random thought on suicides
so backstory, this kid i grew up with killed himself last night, way back we were all friends and he was close with us. post high school he turned into a major douche. Always drunk or high, always out driving drunk, thought he was untouchable because his dad was friends with the chief of police ... got into harder drugs. basically a lot of us stopped even hanging around with him. his parents let him do whatever, he still lived at home at the age of 25, no real job, tons of debt, constantly on something. lately its been pain killers
anyways suddenly everyone is all sad and "in disbelief" that he went and killed himself and here i am 'the asshole' because
A. i don't feel sorry for him, his family maybe but def not him
B. my first reaction was, well i'm not surprised
C. i'm not feigning sorrow in the least bit, i was like oh thats nice to know and went on with my day
i don't see why i should feel sorry for someone who wasted his life on drugs and alcohol and then offs himself.
agree? disagree?

I have 2 views on suicide:
If the person is a druggie and doesn't do anything to better themselves, or others around them...then I have no sympathy.
If the person is someone dealing with a chronic pain or disorder, it's not as bad, but I still feel there are more options for dealing with situations.

Strongly agree.

local high schools star quarterback offed himself last saturday. no one knows why. a year ago last friday another popular kid from my graduation class did the same, no one knows why.
i think its cowardly and selfish, and i feel for those close to him.

I have said the same type of thing before and gotten chewed up for it, but I agree.
My view is that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and is the single most selfish act one can do.
Thats it in a nutshell really.

Growing up with a minister father, I was told from a very early age that suicide is a sin you don't have an opportunity to be forgiven for, so it's a one way ticket to shovel hot shit next to satan himself. o:
Whether or not any of that is true, it sure was a deterrent as a fix to a temporary problem like John said.
