Help! Got a ticket!
i thought about getting a lawyer, but it's gonna cost about 500. so i think i'll stay away from lawyers. what if you get a lawyer and end up losing? then you're out 1500.
ask around. find out how the judge is. i found out the judge in the jurisdiction i got caught in is fairly lenient. so i'll take my chances with him.
i also have a question for you. did the cop pull the other car over too?

If you can afford it, get a lawyer for sure! It's far better to pay a good lawyer to negotiate something that will keep your record clean, than to just plead guilty and pay the fine. When you get traffic convictions on your record, you're even more susceptible to getting tickets in the future! I learned this the hard way.
you're not required to have a lawyer. it's up to you. i hear that lawyers can do things in the courtroom that you wouldn't be able to do yourself. obviously, they know the rules and system better.
do some research. www.motorists.org has a little info. contact a lawyer and ask for his advice, but don't pay for it. lawyers that charge for advice is probably some deadbeat.

Ok so I have come to conclusion... Go to court tomorrow and plead guilty to speeding 60 in a 30. But plead not guilty to Contesting for speed and set up another court date, I don't think I would need a lawyer since I could handle it myself hopefully. Oh ye I was wondering also if I could take a defensive driving class for going that fast?
