Default Tire and rims question please...

Right now I have some 235 55 16 on my truck. One is an old tire and is done, and another has two screws in it. All happened within a day of each other.

Up in NY I have 8 new tires (4 winter and 4 summer) that are 205 60 16. Same pattern too. I know the 55 - 60 wont be a clearance problem, but what about the width?

The question is will putting the smaller width tires be real bad? I found a national shop that said they would do it for me, but they said drive ability will be a noticeable change...

Do it? What will happen worst case?

Yea that's what I figured too... and I asked about it.

The guy at the store said they would fit fine... it'd just be a different ride.

I was hoping John would answer

So no go probably? Other than looking dumb... there is no real issure?

As long as you don't go too extreme with it it should be fine, the main issue with tire stretching is when it goes to far and you try to dig into a corner real hard and peel a bead, it can really put a damper on your day.

God this is going to look horrible...

I'll do it

EDIT: How bad is it going to be if one of my rims is scraped and a little jagged? Will this be a problem with the stretching?

Just change your gear ratios...speedometer will be off...lose load capacity...

a 205/60-16 actually has a smaller diameter than a 235/55-16. If anything, the new tires will make the truck a little faster, but they're only off by like 3%
