If I were you, even though it's not in your choices, I'd get a Macbook Pro. They're so nice and they were just refreshed. h:

that's what ive been saying
a macbook pro is more than enough for all his needs
plus resale value isnt as bad as every other brands mentioned
quality is undoubtedly among the best

I guess you didn't see all my posts on why I wouldn't consider it, and also the one where I bought the Dell.

The Dell worked out to right around $1800 shipped. Let's take a little tour through why there was no way in hell I'd buy a Macbook at the same price. I'm sick of the Apple cult members trying to proselytize me even with all this better shit not on the Apple.

Construction & Weight
Dell - "Tri-Metal" case w/ aluminum, magnesium & steel 5.6 lbs; Apple - unibody aluminum 5.6 lbs (draw)

Screen
Dell - 15.6" 1920x1080 non-glossy; Apple - 15.4" 1440x900 glossy (Dell wins)

CPU
Dell - Core i7-720QM quad core; Apple - Core i5-520M dual core (Dell wins)

Memory
Dell - 8 GB DDR3-1333; Apple - 4 GB DDR3-1066 (Dell wins)

Hard drive
Dell - 500 GB 7200 RPM; Apple - 320 GB 5400 RPM (Dell wins)

Video card
Dell - Nvidia Quadro NVS 3100M 512 MB; Apple Nvidia Geforce GT 330M 256 MB (Apple has better GPU with less memory)

Both have backlit keyboards, bluetooth, wireless-N, and need an adapter to hook up to the HDMI plug on my tv.

Glowing Apple logo so I can look cool to other cult members
Dell - no; Apple - yes (Dell wins)

NO APPLE FOR ME!

Congrats on the purchase - hope you're pleased with your purchase.

My next laptop, unfortunately will be a mac book pro. I'm as anti-apple as the next guy, but currently, there's nothing better.

That and all of my kinesiology and physiology labs from here on out pretty much require mac's. :hs:

I haven't really looked into the laptops too much, but when I was looking around for new desktops, I read from a few sources that if anything goes wrong with them, you're pretty much on your own.

I still assume their laptops are top notch, like everything else.

Not that I'd pay for it, but I gotta admit this is kind of a good use of the logo...

I'm currently rocking a 15" PowerBook G4 (1.67ghz), but I'm probably going to upgrade to a 13" MBP, just the base model.

My optical drive just quit, and I just need something with a little more juice to it. Also, very much looking forward to the 10hr (!) battery life, and it being 4.5lbs.
